How do I get a customized view to apply to all folders?

When an Outlook mailbox view is modified, the changes apply only to the
folder from which the change was made, even though the view is specified as
being available to all folders. As a result, nominally the same view can be
completely different in different folders. How can I get the modified view
to apply to *all* folders that use that view without going through every
folder that uses it and making the identical change?

Modify the default Messages view;
View-> Current View-> Define Views-> Messages-> Modify...

This would only apply to folders that are still in their default view. If
you have modified them individually you can choose to reset all views first
by;
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /cleanviews

That didn't work, and unfortunately was somewhat disasterous. When I did
outlook.exe /cleanviews it wiped out all my customized views and I had to
start all over rebuilding them. What I want to do is have a modified
customized view apply to all existing instances of that view, not delete the
customized view.

"When I did outlook.exe /cleanviews it wiped out all my customized views"
Which I told you would happen.

If you now leave all the folders in their default view, editing the default
Messages view through Define Views... will change the view for all the
folders that use the Messages view.

That seems to work. (I interpreted "reset" as "return to original settings"
rather than "delete".) At any rate, it's working now - thanks.
