How do I fix this?

Hello,

I just installed my DSL connection on my IBM 390x laptop
and 45 seconds into being online a small window popped up
and said windows is shutting down- NT/AUTHORITY.

There was more to the message but I can not remember
what it was. Something about RCP?

Anyone have this happen before and know how to fix it?

Thank You,

Thomas

.you must get an anti virus onto your computer, a worm
that has been going around is in your computer now and it
is shutting down your computer automatically, I had the
same thing when setting up a friends computer and it did
the same, brought the hard drive home did a virus scan and
hold and behold the worm was in there, microsoft has the
security update for this worm. hope this helps!!!!

Your problem is with the RPC (Remote Procedure Call),
your computer must be infected with the blaster virus...
but don't panic, it will just cause your computer to keep
restarting all the time...

Restart your computer and when the Windows XP Logo
appears press F8 then select from the menu safe mode...
when you are in windows go to Control Panel, select from
that window Switch to Classic View if you don't have it
that way... after that, run administrative tools, then
services, on the list that will appear search for the
service I mention (RPC) not RPC Locator, when you find it
double clik on it... on the window that will appear there
is a tab named recovery, enter it and from the fields
that says Restart the Computer, select the option Take no
Action on the three of them... after that select apply
and ok... restart the computer...

To remove the virus download this tool from symantec:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FixBlast.exe
when you are done run the program, it will search for the
virus and remove it from your computer... when you are
done, run and update to Windows XP, after you are done
with the update return the values of the service RPC to
Restar the Computer and you are done... and that's it =)

If you have problems following this you can also go
here maybe this will be easier for you
http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp
good luck
