I have a few disks that I have saved information on. However, I can no
longer view them as all it shows are hundreds of "y"'s and tiny small squares.

Hi.

One needs to read these files with the application that was used to create
the files. If one opens the file in a text editor for example, one will see
the text representation of the data in the file, which may be binary in
nature. Your data is probably fine. If these are *.MDB, *.MDA, or *.MDE
files, then don't try to save these files in a text editor. It will corrupt
them, and database recovery services won't be able to recover the data in
the files.

HTH.
