How do I find the point where I left off editing?

Once upon a time MS Word included a command that allowed the user, on
re-opening a document, to return to the point of the last saved edit before
the previous close. I seem to remember that this feature was removed during
one of the top-to-bottom revisions (and I'm sorry that I don't remember which
one; I've been using Word since version 1.0 and they've all kind of blended
together). Does anyone know if this feature was ever restored, and if so,
where I might find it? I'll need answers for both Word 2002 and 2007.

Shift+F5 is the shortcut for the GoBack command, which cycles through the
last three edit points. It works in all versions through Word 2003, both
while you're working on the document and upon reopening it. It also works in
Word 97-2003-format documents in Word 2007. It works in Word 2007 .docx
documents while you have them open but not when you close and reopen. I
understand that this functionality has been restored in Word 2010.
