I am trying to upload files to my website using Frontpage2003 Publisher. It
calls for an User Id & password, which I don't remember setting up? how do I
find out what that password/user id is?

Contact your host. They are the ones who assigned it for publishing to the
remote server.

Do you mean the website host? When I click on publish in Frontpage 2003, a
windows pops up with the error message "This operation requires end-user
permission" and has my first name "Bob/owner" for name and then a blank
password box. Any password i type in is rejected.

Did you type in the credentials supplied by the host?

Yes, I typed in the user ID and password they assigned me. In a few seconds,
it comes back with an empty password box and changes the user id back to
bob/owner, which is not the assigned user id. Bob/owner the name of my
computer from when i got it last year. Repeated this several times, same
result.

Let me give you more info. Previously, I had used FTP PRO to upload files to
my website, that I had created under Frontpage2000. The other day, when I
tried to upload new pics, the index page loaded fine, however the pics will
not show up. Acquired frontpage 2003, installed. Was reading Tuturiols and
it said it was best to upload files created in frontpage, with frontpage
publisher. I can not get frontpage publisher connect to the webserver. When
i talked to website tech support, they said go to their faqs. Could find
nothing there concerning my problem.

Thanks in advance

watch out for case-sensitivity when entering host un/pw too.

if you had been using 3rd party FTP, y ou may have wacked the FP extensions. If you have access to host control panel you may be able to reset them (FPSE) yourself, otherwise have the host do it...then Publish with FP via Publish Web (Site) http://

I have already reset the FP extensions, as that was a possible solution in
the tutorial. Then when I try to publish with FP, I get the user Id/password
box, which has me stumped. (Had I set up a password/user id on installation,
I would have coded that info in hardcopy installation file). I even tried my
msn net id/password. none of it works).

Thanks in advance.

See what happens when you browse to your website with IE, select Edit with Frontpage...then enter your un/pw and see what happens.

What's the URL of the site?

Couldn't find Frontpage in the edit column of IE while browsing.

Seems I'm dealing with 2 problems here. FTP PRO, that I uploaded index page
and pics with and Frontpage.

Finally heard back from Netfirms, they say that my pic files are on the disk
and not the server and directed me to faq to solve problem, which i can not
find anything about correcting that situation. (Uploaded them the same as
usual).

The frontpage problem, is not being able to log into because of not having
the userId/password that they re talking about. Stupid of me to figure if
the FTP won't work, use the frontpage, lol.

My website is http://www.afila4u.com

it is the password/user name for your hosting account/ISP account - which of
course you need before you can publish the web.

The web host must either set your current login info to work with the FP extensions or set up a
second login for use with the FP extensions.

Yah, the links to your pics are wacked. They also contain spaces, which can be a problem on unix server.

Also your site doesn't appear to have the FP extensions installed, so I guess thats why you're using FTP ? This is probably why your image links may be messed up as well.
