I am trying to find a specific attachment in Outlook, I know the file name of
the attachment but I cannot work out how to search and find which e mail it
is attached to.

search won't work - use rules to apply a category or move/copy messages with
words in the header and use the attachment name as the word. run the rule on
the folder 'now' and if you don't know which folder, run it on the top level
and apply to all folders. if you add a category, use search to locate the
item. Note that this works only if the attachment name is in the header, so
its not 100% - I'd guess it works maybe 70% of the time.

goggle and msn desktop searches should find it too, but they can cause
problems in outlook (and need time to index the mail) so I don't recommend
installing it just for finding this attachment. But if you already use
either...

Have you tried the search button? in the "look for" field type in the
name of the attachment and in the "search in" field choose "all mail
folders"

I actually tried to do a search before I posted my suggestion and it
worked fine just for me... I sent an e-mail to myself from
"(e-mail address removed)" with an attachment called *.jpg. I then put it in a
subfolder to my personal folders and then performed the search as
described above and I found the attachment very quickly in the search
process...so please let me know why a search won´t work because I´m
getting a little confused here, and frankly I don´t mind beeing wrong
I just want to know why It shouldn´t work...
