How do I enable what my SysAdmin turned off?...

Great guys, thanks so much. I now have the cable and from the laptop I can
see my desktop computer in Network Connections. :)

However :( I cannot get into any of the folders like My Documents. I seem
to recall that I have to give each computer the same User account name and
password for them to see each other as one and the same. Is that still the
case?

I think it may be hard to change the user details set by my SysAdmin on the
laptop, sooooo any easier way to access files on both computers from the
other? Basically I just want to be able to drag My Briefcase across and
stuff like that -- not asking the world ;(

Thanks.

PS: When I attempt to access my desktop's C$ drive from the laptop, it
prompts me for a username and password. What exactly does it want there? I
try my desktop's ones and it still doesn't like it.

Hehe, talking to myself here. I just fixed it by switching the desktop to
use Simple File Sharing. I now have everything I want. Thanks again!

One final Q: Can my SysAdmin access files on my laptop (or desktop for that
matter) when I have the laptop connected to the internet, and the desktop
connected to the laptop (or any other combination of that setup)? I have
SP2 with firewalls on, but just wonder...?

not unless you have a vpn connection into the office lan. at least assuming
you have the firewall configured so it blocks remote desktop or any similar
apps you may have, and you haven't done something dumb like open shares onto
the internet... but then again if you did that any hacker in the world would
own you shortly anyway.
