How do I enable peer-to-peer network SysAdmin turned off?

CJSnet

Hi, I have been issued a laptop as a fieldworker, which was preconfigured.
I have since been told what I do with it now is up to me. However the
SysAdmin has changed a few things that I would like to put back to normal.
Please advise :)

1) User Accounts
I do not see the usual User Accounts window when I open it from Control
Panel. Instead it brings up the userpasswords2 window. My user account has
a domain associated. Can I still revert to the original, friendlier User
Accounts setup screen, and if so how?

2) Login
I have to type my password from the older Win2000 style login box. How can
I get back the nicer WinXP login screen where I click my username or
picture, and can see outstanding e-mails etc?

3) Network Connections
I do not seem to have the option to connect to a LAN when I add a new
connection. How can I get this back.

Better still, is there a way to just revert to all default settings for
security and admin, preferably without a clean install?

Thanks in advance.

What do I do if I forgot to crosspost to this networking group for a
networking issue? :-S I have to repost then, okay.

Then it's best to post a new message & note that - can even set up followups
to go to the other group if you wish. A lot of people don't know that there
is such a thing as crossposting, or how to do it, so that's why I mentioned
it - :)

Ok, now that's sorted, I don't suppose you can help with the actual
question? Folks searching on Google News in years to come will be awfully
disappointed with this thread otherwise ;)

Anyone?

Did you see the other reply to your message? I don't remember what group it
was in, but IIRC it looked helpful. Involved resetting the default admin
password if you didn't know it.

If this were my PC I'd recommend a clean install....unless there is some
reason that you need to use this domain account. You can't use the
"friendlier" XP login interface if your PC belongs to a domain, and your
domain account may not have the local permissions it needs to do what you
wish.

LOL.
