How do I enable Letters and mailings in Word?

When I move the cursor over Letters and mailings the subject show up grey and
not available for use?
How can I make them work?

First, check that the current document isn't protected -- click the
Tools menu and if it says Unprotect Document (instead of the usual
Protect Document) then click that.

If the document isn't protected, try running Help > Detect and Repair.
