How do I eliminate excess pst files?

After contracting a severe computer virus last year, I had to reload all of
my programs, including .pst files for Outlook which I had saved on a backup
cd. Since reloading them, Microsoft Outlook appears to have four different
copies of my contacts list (one or two of which are empty), and when I try to
synchronize my palm pilot with Outlook, it never seems to find the correct
contacts list. How do I get it to find the right one?

Most PDA sync programs synchronize with the user's default Contacts folder, i.e. the one in the same information store (.pst file in your case) as the default Inbox. You can change the default store in the Tools | E-mail Accounts dialog.

You can control which contacts folders appear in the Address Book dialog by displaying the Properties dialog for each folder and checking or clearing the Show in Outlook Address Book box.
