how do I disable the exchange server setting in outlook?

I mistakenly checked the exchange server box and now want to uncheck it. It
won't let me do this. All I want is the pop3 account settings. I have
already added my pop3 mailbox. I can send messages but cannot receive
messages to my inbox. I do get junk mail sent to the junk mail folder.
Currently the 'private folder' will not let me access it.
