How do I disable some of the control key functions and shortcuts .

I was advised from a previous email that I may be hitting the control key
instead of shift when I am transcribing. I am new to word 2003 and never had
this problem with my Word 2000. As I am transcribing, everything reedits and
slows me down because the edits are not wanted. I will be switched to a new
document, or the find and replace box will open, a whole paragraph will
indent suddenly even though I am halfway through it, the font and font size
will change, the work will suddenly italicize, and there is more. I usually
handle these functions with my mouse when needed. Someone please help me
figure out what I need to do or adjust. I have so much transciption I need
to get caught up on.

If this is a new problem, then it seems unlikely that you are suddenly
accidentally pressing Ctrl keys instead of Shift keys. It's more likely that
a new feature is causing the problem. One thing that occurs to me is that
it's possible that Speech has been turned on accidentally, and that Word is
interpreting either actual sounds or computer noise into commands. So,
Iwould begin by clicking Tools and seeing if Speech is checked. If so,
toggle it off and see if the problem goes away.
