How do I disable "SCSI and RAID Controllers?"

I've recently experienced a problem with a DVD RW -- it reads disks ok, but
no longer writes to them.

Looking in the Device Manager, I see that my primary IDE Channel and my
Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller both show a resource conflict (cannot
find enough free resources that it can use (error 12)), with the primary IDE
Channel identifying the SCSI and RAID Controller as the conflicting resource.

While I do have two separate hard drives on this machine, in addition to a
DVD ROM, as far as I know I have no SCSI or RAID devices. I'd like to at
least temporarily disable the SCSI and RAID Controller, to see if that helps
the DVD RW, but I see no obvious way to disable the SCSI and RAID Controller.

Any ideas?

There also maybe a disableing jumper on the mobo, you would need to check
mobo manual or their web site.
Since the sys was previously OK you could, in Device Mngr, locate the Raid
cntrlr, remove it then reboot. See if that cures it.
