How do i determine the source of my email -

I have tried to send an email from laptop and i keep getting undeliverable
messages. How do i determine and confirm from which email address i'm
sending mail?

seems so basic to me to just press a button somewhere that confirms this,
but the "help" button didn't come up with anything so i'm guessing i'm more
challenged than i thought..

To answer the direct question first:
The location of the setting for the originating e-mail account depends on
your email client: Outlook; Outlook Express, Incredimail, Eudora, GMail, &c.
You will have to check the help system for that application.

Alternately, the information is part of the message headers. You can send
yourself a message and check the headers. To determine how to do that, check
the help system of your email application.

That being said, if the e-mail is undeliverable, it is probably due to an
error in the address of the person to whom you are sending the message. If
you are clicking on the name in your address book as part of the procedure
to send the message, double-check the information to assure that it is
correct.

This has nothing to do with Word, but also, almost certainly nothing to do
with the address from which you are sending. More likely the problem is
errors in the email addresses to which you are trying the sent the emails.
