How do I delete sent items so that they don't go to the deleted i.

When I delete an email from my sent items folder - the email goes to my
deleted items folder. Then I have to delete these emails again. Is there a
way to delete sent items completely on the first try?
 
From any folder in outlook including Inbox and Sent Folders, highlight the
email/s you wish to delete then simultaneously press "Shift/Delete". You
will be asked if you want to permanently delete the email/s to which you
respond "Yes". The emails will be deleted.
