How do I delete saved passwords in XP

Hi,

I am attempting to log onto an internal website using a
new set of logon credentials.

However IE 6.0, keeps logging me on with the existing
saved set of username and password. I have cleared the
stored passwords from the Content tab under Tools -->
Internet Options --> Auto Complete, to no avail.

I have even deleted the entire IE sub key in the registry
under HKEY_CURRENT_USER-->SOFTWARE-->Microsoft.

I find that the only way I can get IE to prompt me for a
username and password is by deleting the windows user
profile under -->Documents & Settings and restarting the
machine.

Can anyone show me an easier way of doing this.

From control panel go to "Internet Options."
Select the "Content" button.
Then click the "Auto Complete" button.

In there you can clear all stored passwords as well as
stored information that is used to automatically fill out
various forms during your browseing.

Good luck to you!

Hi

This info may be useful to me also, but I'm wondering, does this only
eliminate the "Common Name" passwords? I have my Internet log-on set up to
automatically fill in my log-on name and password, and I don't want to lose
that. Unfortunately (stupidly), I neglected to write down my password when I
initially set it up this way, and I don't know what I ended up needing to
use for a password.
Thanx.

Hi,

I finally managed to get the issue resolved through help
received from another posting.

MY problem was that WIndows was automatically logging me
on to Intranet sites using saved user credentials.

This setting can be altered from IE--> Tools-->Internet
Options-->Security-->Local Intranet. There I had to
Custom Configure the settings to prompt for a username
and password when logging onto Intranet sites.

But this solution came too late in the day for me, as by
then I had already started the process of rebuilding the
users windows profile.

I hope this helps someone else in the same predicament.

Users & Passwords in control panel. Then, if you use the new, blue users
control panel, select "Manage Stored Passwords" fromt the left-hand pane and
delete any you don't want any more. If you use the classic users control
panel, "Manage Passwords" will be under the "Advanced" tab.
