How Do I Delete "My Sharing Folders"?

When I installed Windows Live Messenger, it created a folder on my
computer called "My Sharing Folders". How do I delete that folder?

I've looked at the settings in Windows Live Messenger. The checkbox
"Use a sharing folder..." is unchecked. I've also used Tweak UI. Under
My Computer / My Computer Icons, the icon "My Sharing Folders" is
unchecked.

Since neither of those steps removed the folder, can anyone tell me
how to get rid of the damned thing? And for extra credit, can anyone
tell me why Microsoft thinks it is a good idea to create, without
asking, a folder that can't be moved, deleted, or renamed, and which
defies every established principle of a standard user interface?
