How do I delete for messages no longer on the server?

In between the time when I downloaded headers (using Outlook 2003) and when I
next connected to our server, someone doing server maintenance inadvertently
erased all my messages. Thus, there is a batch of headers still on my
computer for which no messages reside on the email server. If I flag them
for download, it tells me that there's an error as the message cannot be
found on the server. If I flag them for deletion, same thing. Outlook won't
let me delete the header in my Inbox directly, nor will it allow me to move
it to the "Deleted Items" box. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the
headers that remain on my notebook?

MANY THANKS!

Hi Mary,

I just checked and doublechecked - there is no "Purge Deleted Items" option
available from ANY of the menus in Outlook (using Outlook 2003.)
Help?????????

THANKS!

One more thing, Mary - I'm using a POP, not an IMAP account. I think the
option to "purge deleted items" may be unique to IMAP...?

ROb,
I see this message is a couple of months old. Did you find a solution? I
am dealing with the same issue and would love some advice. Same situation,
also pop mail and also Outlook 2003.
