I have a power point presentation (PPT 2003) another person created who used
too many sounds associated with custom animation. How do I remove all these
sounds at once, as opposed to changing every slide individually?

If they are inserted into the slide, just find the audio icon, select it and
hit delete.
If they are embedded into the transition, go to Slide > Slide Transition. In
the Slide Transition task pane that appears at the right, select No Sound.
