How do I delete a style that "won't delete"?

As an editor, I often receive a document with many styles, all of which I
change to a standard style. Occasionally, however, I cannot change a style
to my standard, delete it, or clear the formatting. How can I get rid of
these refractory styles?

You can try going to Tools, Add ins and templates, and then click Organiser
and delete the style that got imported from the Normal.dot template.
