how do i delete a document file from new microsoft office

I have tried to use computer user friendly guide to remove a
file/document.(word) It says go to home tab and click right then choose
delete, when i do this (right click) i get something else-not an option to
delete. Please help--I'm a Senior Citizen that was used to getting a hand
manual instead of computer manual.
 
You can go to the file location (In the folder where it is saved) click on
the icon and press
Shift and delete buttons together on your computer's keyboard. It will give
you a confirm that you want to delete the file, click on yes. The file will
be deleted.
