How do I delete a calendar in Outlook 2007?

I tried right clicking and that didn't work. The delete calendar prompt won't
highlight in order to click on it. Any other ideas?

You can't delete outlook's primary folders. This includes the
calendar, primary inbox, tasks, primary contacts, etc. Anything you
have created as sub-folders you can delete.

I wonder why you want to delete the calendar anyway? You can remove
all appointments from it instead.

There is a way to delete the calendar using a utility, but I am
curious as to why you want it deleted in the first place?

Thank you for your response. There are two calendars ( One that just says
Calendar and the other Calendar fo rPersonal Folders ). I only use the
Personal Calendars folder and not the other one. Can't I just get rid of it?

If Outlook created the calendar folder in the PST, then you won't be able to
delete it with Outlook. If that PST was ever a delivery location, then it
will have the undeletable standard folders in addition to any you created.

One thing I've done before is to create another PST and then drag to it
those calendars I wish to keep, after which I close the old PST, thus giving
me a new set of folders with only that data I wish to keep active.

By default Outlook uses the primary calendar for all appointments sent
to you. If you are not using the primary calendar at all, then why
have a second calendar? The best thing to do is to set your calendar
view to categories, select all appointments, right-click and move them
back to the primary calendar. In my experience a second calendar will
not function the same as the primary. Your meeting requests will go
the the primary by default. But Outlook does not allow you to delete
or rename the primary calendar.

There is a utility you can use to delete it, but I don't know what
affect that will have on your calendar behavior or if it is a wise
thing to do. The only time I have used it is to delete and the re-
create the primary calendar to resolve a corrupted calendar issue.

I had moved my pst to a new copy of Outlook2007 and found that the new primary calendar remained blank, but my original was also there. Couldn't erase the primary (of course, since I read your note, but was able to move the contents of my original to the blank primary and then erased the original. Your recipe worked. Thanks!

You also could have set your added PST as the default by clicking
Tools>Account Settings, selecting the Data Files tab, selecting the added
PST, clicking Set as Default, then stopping and restarting Outlook. Your
PST would then contain the default folders and you could then remove the
empty PST by right-clicking its root in the Navigation Pane and choosing
Close.
