how do I decrease margins in booklet printing

I am looking to find a solution to the following problem. I am currently
trying to print a booklet (actually a catalogue) from a Microsoft Power Point
application and cannot use approximately the 1-1.5 inch border space around
the top and sides of the pages. This page setup is apparently defaulted in
the booklet print function.

Using the space will help me increase the size of the images and text. I
tried just increasing to legal size hoping to at least expand laterally,
however that just left even wider margins and truncated the text.

Do you have a recommendation on how I may be able to use virtually the
entire page? Two inches is precious on a 5.5" by 8" page. Thanks

PowerPoint does not have a booklet printing option. Use the send to Word
option, and use the Booklet printing options from Word.

PowerPoint is a presentation software package that is somewhat flexible.
Your best choice would be to use a software designed for publications or
printing. Having said that, you may want to adjust the page (slide) size in
File => Page Setup to the size of the print area you want to use. Do not
include the margins, since PowerPoint printing is not able to address the
page margin settings. Then, when printing, do not select scale to fit
paper.

You may need to tweak these settings to get the right combination of slide
size and printer paper size to get it to print as you want.

Most print applications (Publisher, Word, etc.) are able to place the print
area on the page, since this is their intended output media. PowerPoint is
intended to show images on a projection screen, but still does OK with most
of its print options.
