How do I create a link that updates the data in another workbook?

I need to link up four other workbooks up to a master work book which will
hold all the data. I also need to be able to update all the fields through
both wyas, through the master and through the smaller more specialised
workbooks. I already know how to update hte spreadsheet one way but I now
need to know how to do it in reverse.

This is an ACCESS newsgroup. You appear to be asking an EXCEL question.
Please post to an Excel newsgroup if you are not using a Microsoft Access
database. If you are using Access, then we need more details to understand
where a spreadsheet comes into the picture.
