How do I create a feild that updates when the document is edited?

I am not sure how to make the feild update when the actual document is
changed, just when it is saved. I really just need to know how to create my
own feilds.

Different fields get updated at different times. Many are updated during a
print or print preview. You can't create your own fields. You can use macros
to insert information at bookmarks but this is not easy.

The array of fields already built-in, though, is impressive. What, exactly,
are you trying to do? It probably can be done using built-in features.
