how do i create a birthday banner?

how do i create a birthday banner with a customised border and lettering? i
have done this before but cant remember how to. i am using microsoft XP home
edition.

A poster, perhaps, but not a banner (unless it was a small one) - Word's max
paper size is 22" x 22".

If that's big enough (and your printer can handle it) go to File>Page
Setup>Paper & define your paper size first. While there, set your Margins &
you can also go to the Layout Tab to create your Border (button @ bottom of
dialog).

For 'custom lettering' I assume you mean WordArt, which you can get into
through Insert>Picture>WordArt or by clicking the Insert WordArt button on
the Drawing Toolbar.

XP Home Edition is a Windows version. It does not include any version of
Word. Unless you have Word then your question here is pointless, but it
probably is, anyway, because Word doesn't support banner printing. You can
print banners from Publisher, however.
