How do I correct existing margins & tabs in word project

Am trying to correct document created by another person. Margins & tabs are
off and will not correct. Paragraphs off-line and won't adjust and stay
adjusted to corrected margin & tabs.
 
How are you changing the margin and tabs? And note that you don't change the
margin of paragraphs, only of sections, but you can change the indents of
paragraphs.
