How do I configure spell check to ignore words with - (dashes) and

I include a good deal of code / command line syntax in my Word documents, I
like being able to spell check, but with spell check flagging file paths and
so on, I usually just end up canceling the spell check.

For example, say I have:
/bin/somefunkyprogram
or
this-is-a-test
or
c:

All of these I'd like spell check to ignore. I could just add these to the
dictionary as it finds them, but quite often they are unique and likely won't
be typed in a word document again, so that approach won't make my life any
easier.

Is there a way to use wild cards in the dictionary or some other advanced
way of telling it "Ignore words with / or : or -" etc...
?

Thanks, Mike

The most efficient way to do this is through styles. If your code snippets
are separate paragraphs, you can use a paragraph style; otherwise, you'll
need a character style. In either case, through the Modify Style dialog you
can use Format | Language to apply the "Do not check spelling or grammar"
property to your style. Apply the style to text you don't want
spell-checked. You may want to assign a keyboard shortcut to your style,
especially if it is a character style.

Howdy Suzanne, thanks for the tip, I wasn't aware of advanced configuration
options available to styles (I really like the "Assign Keystroke").
