Internet Explorer 6.0 is causing no end of problems on my Pentium 1 system, not to mention there are a growing number of sites on the internet that actively block access by MIE 6; claiming that it makes it too easy to hack into encrypted pages
It can't find my previous install of 5.5, so it won't let me uninstall, or over-install MIE 5.5

How can I uninstall Internet Explorer entirely, and just start from scratch?

Robert,

What Windows version are you using?

If WinXP, IE is an intimate part of the system. I vaguely recall seeing a
procedure here ages ago that involved changing a Registry setting that
convinces the installer that IE isn't installed. If you have a handy source
for a fresh IE6 install and are not afraid of messing with your Registry, I
or someone else can try and dig that up and let you know.

Try this:

If still no joy, you may want to consider this:

Good. Somebody remembered the reference. Worked for me a year ago, but I'd
forgotten where it was :-)
