How do I collate multiple documents?

I have multiple RTF documents that are continually being changed and
re-created. I need to find a way put them together in one document, and
update them automatically when the subdocuments change. Any ideas??

First, create your "parent" document (which should reference all the
others). Then, on the Insert menu, click File. Locate the first file
to be included. Select it. Click the arrow next to the Insert button,
and choose to "Insert as Link". Repeat the procedure for the following
files.

I have an almost identical problem that your last post helped with, but I
have one additional issue: in each of the "child" documents I have a footer
which tells page # of #. when I refrence the document into the "parent" the
headers work fine, but the footers read page # of TOTAL#.

How can I use this technique, but keep the footers displaying page # of #
for ONLY their section (child doc) and not page# out of the total pages in
the new "parent document"?
