How do I change the page number format in a TOC

I am trying to update a Table of Contents with sections of a footer. For
example, the page number is labeled EC - 1, EC - 2, AT -1, AT -2, etc. I can
get it to insert just the page number (1, 2,3), but cannot figure out how to
add the EC - part of it. Is there a way to do this? It should look
something like:
General..............................EC - 1
Overview...........................EC - 2
Summary........................ EC - 3
Extract..............................AT - 1
Attachment A..................AT - 2
Attachment B .................AT - 3

HELP!! I have a report due in the morning and have been trying to figure
this out. Any guidance would be great!!

Word does not provide a way to do this automatically. The best that can be
accomplished in an automatic TOC is explained in this article:
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/numbering/chapternumber.htm.

What you can do is unlink the TOC when editing is done, and manually add the
"EC" etc. letter combinations. Alternatively, if the number of headings is
not very big, you can create your TOC semi-automatically by inserting
cross-references to heading text and page numbers (and, again, typing in the
letters).
