How do I change the default font in a callout?

I'm using Word 2007. I tried right clicking on a callout with the font & size
I want, then selecting selecting Set Autoshape Defaults. but that didn't work.

When you select the autoshape it selects all the text in the shape. Select
the shape (the text will not be highlighted, but it is selected), and then
choose Home -> Font from the ribbon to change the font and font size.
