screen tip and "click to follow link" direction

In Word 2007, I've created screen tips that display over a graphic callout
when the user pauses the mouse over the callout picture:

1. Select the desired word(s) or object such as a picture.
2. From the Insert menu, click Bookmark. Name the bookmark. Click Add.
3. While the word/object is still selected, press CTRL+K.
4. In Insert Hyperlink dialog box, click ScreenTip.
5. In the Set Hyperlink ScreenTip dialog box, type the screen tip text;
click OK.
6. Click the Place in This Document button, at the left side of the screen.
7. In the list of locations, click the desired bookmark, OK.
When you're finished, you will have a hyperlink that essentially goes
nowhere. When you hold the mouse over it, a yellow screen tip will pop up
with your message. If the user clicks on this hyperlink, it will change
color, flash, and the cursor will go to the beginning of the bookmark.

I don't want the message "Click to follow link." to appear as part of the
screen tip. See

for examples. Is it possible to remove the message and is it possible to
change the feature so that if someone does click the callout that they are
not moved anywhere--in other words, disable the hyperlink part?

The second part is possible, and you've already done it by linking to a
bookmark marking the text itself (as explained in the instructions you
quoted). The first part is not possible.

I link to the bookmark, but some of the links jump to the top of the
document. Any idea why? Also, the screen tip has a maximum character limit of
around 256 characters (determined via trial and error). Is there a way to
increase that limit? Thanks for your help, Suzanne.

No, if you have the link pointed to the bookmarked text, I don't know why it
would jump. And there is no way around the limit; ScreenTips are not really
intended for this purpose.
