How do I change the default action of the print icon?

I am rather annoyed that when I want to print something, the print icon on
the toolbar automatically sends the document to the printer instead of
bringing up the dialogue box like the menu option in the File menu. Is there
any way to change the default so that the icon brings up the dialogue box? I
can't seem to find anything like that in the help files or the options menu.

Yes. Note that there are two print commands: FilePrint and FilePrintDefault.
The toolbar button is by default assigned to the latter. You can drag the
FilePrint (or File | Print...) command from the Customize dialog to your
toolbar and use that instead. If you want to have both available, you may
want to edit the icon on one or the other so you can distinguish them,
although the ScreenTips do appear to be different: the FilePrintDefault
button says, "Print (your printer name)," and the FilePrint button just
says, "Print."
