Changing Macro Icons in QAT

Paul

I have created a macro to print the current page only--working fine, but
apart from that bizarre default macro icon, I was only able to see a limited
number of choices (as to modifying the icon itself). I have a couple of
icons I'd like to try, on my desktop. I didn't see any way to browse to any
other location, other than the default one that Word 2007 opens up to. Is
there a way to insert my own icons, instead of simply selecting from the
icons given in that default menu, when you click to Modify the macro icon?

Another approach here--even if I can't navigate to another directory, can I
at least insert my own icons in this default directory? Does anyone know the
location?

Microsoft did their level best to prevent you from adding any icons
except the paltry handful in that Modify dialog. <grrrr> However, Greg
Maxey shows the way in
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Ribbon_Custom_Icons.htm.

Essentially, you add the custom icon to a custom group on the ribbon,
using a fairly simple bit of XML that he shows. The one change you
need is, in the XML, to set the onAction value to the name of your
macro (including the module name, a dot, and the macro name). The
custom group can be marked as not visible, so it doesn't appear on the
ribbon itself; but it becomes available in the Customize dialog, so it
can be added to the Quick Access Toolbar.

Thanks Jay. I looked the page up and I'll tinker with that ribbon and the
XML when I get some free time.
