How do I change text animation in ppt???

I followed the help menu to change the way text enters when the slide is
advanced. ie., highlight first text item>entrance>on click> highlight second
text item>with prev...etc. Then I "play" and it slows that it appears as
changed, but when I go to "slide show" it reverts back to each bulleted item
appearing with idividual mouse click! I do not see an "apply" button...what
am I doing, or not doing incorrectly?????

I don't get the same result, but I'm curious as to why you'd set the
subsequent bulleted lines of text to With Previous because then they all come
in at one time, which is the same as not animating them at all.

To get a result that seems to make sense to me, which is having the
subsequent lines of text come in automatically one after the other, I'd
suggest setting them to After Previous and then setting a delay such as 0.5
second. I did this by clicking each item in the Custom Animation task pane,
clicking the down arrow, choosing Timing and setting the delay in the dialog
box that appears.
