How do I change rt. margins always defaults to landscape?

Word [2003] suddenly defaults to landscape and the right margins indent 2/3
into the right side. When changjing to portrait default gives me a right
margin to small and reverts to landscape. How is this solved?

Options > Track Changes

Either don't use balloons, or choose to "Preserve" page orientation.
