How do I change auto insert notification on CD drive?

I notice that certain software has the ability to turn this on or off. But
when I right-click and change the Auto Play settings on the CD drive it
doesn't affect anything. Is there a way to change auto insert notification
settings manually? Is it a registry key?

Chances are your cd burning program has turned it off for sure. It does
this to help guarantee that the burns will work aka get done correctly.

I opened iTunes and I got a pop-up saying "auto insert is off, would you
like to turn it on?" I clicked Yes and now its working again. Did iTunes
access a registry key to turn it on? If so which one?
