How do I cancel "Do Not Check spelling or grammar" in text?

All new and past documents are not being corrected. When the spell checker
is used it says that text marked "Do Not check spelling or grammar" was not
checked.

The 'checker' is stating that the entire document is marked this way, even
things I just typed a minute ago. New documents are AUTOMATICALLY being read
this way.

I do not know how this happened or how to correct this. We are using Office
2003 and WXP

Ctrl+A to Select All, then go to Tools | Language | Set Language and clear
the check box for "Do not check spelling or grammar." Click Default...
