how do i boot in safe mode?

Hi,

You need to hit F8 during boot, just after the BIOS info switches to black
screen. Or...

Go to Start/Run/Msconfig. Boot.Ini and check off /SafeBoot. Apply/Ok,
reboot.

restart your computer, wait until after the first

bootlog screen disappears, then PRESS the F8 key a few
times (do this BEFORE the Window's XP screen comes up).
Then scroll UP to SAFE MODE, Press ENTER, Press OK in the
safe mode confirmation box, now your in safe mode, when
your done, just restart - HOPE this helps you, John.
