hi-
i am getting an "error 1714" when i try to install a new version of
adobe reader. and i cannot uninstall the old version using anything!!
so i was going to try the windows installer clean-up tool to fix the
problem. but i would like to back up my registry first. how do i do
this? and then, if i need to put it back, how do i do that? thanks.

Go to Start --> Run and type in regedit, and the registry will open. Then
go to Help and index and type in backup. Here it will tell you exactly how
to backup the registry.

Windows will not make a complete backup of your registry. Use ERUNT.

The free third party program ERUNT is probably the best tool for this.
