How do I assign a Task to someone outside my network?

I need to assign a task to someone outside of our network. When I send them
the task it shows up as a plain text email, not as a task. What can I do?

Force Rich Text Format on the item before you send. Right click the
address, select Properties (Outlook properties if 2003) and select the
option to send using RTF.
