Tasks - how to "unlink"

In my organization, we occasionally transfer Tasks to one another
using the Assign feature. However, the sender is not "assigning" the
Task as as supervisor; there is no need for sender to keep track of
the Task thereafter; we're basically just redividing up our work
volume.

So, how can I as the recipient of a Task unlink the Task from the
assigner so that every time I adjust a date, etc., in the Task, an
email is not automatically sent to the assigner notifying him/her of
the change? Thanks.

Copy it in place. Or the sender can forward rather than assign the task.

Thanks. The buttons shown by default aren't necessarily the most
useful. I added the Forward button to the toolbar and will advise my
colleagues to do the same.
