how do I adjust the darkness of my computer?

I fear this is the wrong place to be asking this question but my screen is
too dark and some pictures on the internet show up too dark. I tried the
buttons on the front of my monitor and those settings are as bright as they
possibly can be. I've done it before on this computer but I don't remember
how I did it. I think I just need to locate my graphics card...where? lol
I've looked everywhere.

See if this helps out Sheri.
Right click an empty area on the desktop.
Click "Properties" in the popup menu.
Under the "Settings" tab click the "Advanced" button.
If there is a tab related to your video/graphics device/driver, check there
to see if there is a option/setting for screen brightness.

If there isn't a tab, check any other present tabs for a possible
option/setting.

yeah see I thought that's what I did the last time and I tried to do it
again and I can't find anything. hm. this computer got cleaned out of a
virus recently and in the process I wonder how much the men who worked on it
adjusted certain things. I will have to talk to them I guess and ask.
Thanks anyway Brian. lol
