Screen suddenly went dark

Yesterday my LCD screen was bright & colourful. But today when I turned on my
Computer it was all dull & dark.
First thing I did was check that the leads were all pluged in.
Second thing I did was go into the advanced settings for my monitor &
clicked onto the 'ATI Colour' tab and I adjusted the contrast, gamma &
brightness. This did make the screen brighter but it didn't have the detail
it had before.

Can someone please help!

Thanks In Advance

Have you checked the brightness/contrast settings on the lcd itself? It's
likely that these were turned down somehow. If not, and they are turned up,
then there's a hardware issue with the display or your video card. You
could try hooking up another monitor to confirm that it is/isn't the video
card.

Is this a laptop or a desktop? If a desktop, attach the computer to a
different monitor. Is everything good now? If it is, you know your
original monitor has failed. If it is under warranty, take it back.

If you attach the desktop to a different monitor (known-good) and the
problem persists, then your video card may be failing. Swap it out for
a known-good one to troubleshoot.

If this is on a laptop, then your screen has failed. Call the laptop
mftr.
