How do I access a zip file after i have extracted it?

I am receiving zip files via email and have extracted file. Following this I
am unable to view my file. What do I do?
 
what happens when you try? Where are you saving it and how are you
extracting it?

You need a program that understands zip file formats. WinZip is a popular
commercial one, InfoZip, Untimate Zip, FilZip, and 7-Zip are all freeware
ones.
