How do I abort chkdsk while running at startup

Hi,

I got chkdsk to run at startup, but since it's taking too long, I'd
like to abort it. How do I do that? Neither ctrl-c nor ESC respond.

Thanks!

Don't - you could thrash your file system if you aborted a running chkdsk
operation.

Where did you come up with that nonsense?

Probably an old wife's tale, repeated time and again.
On the other hand I don't really have the time to
damage the file structure on a test disk, let chkdsk
fix it and see if pulling the plug makes things worse.
So I'll accept your assessment, untested and unproven
as it may be.
