How did I do this?

Normally when I open Word, I get a panel with a single line on top that says
Microsoft Word Document 1

Now, when I open Word, I get a regular sized panel that says Microsoft Word
and, within that screen, I get a second panel that says Document 1.

This arrangement is not what I would like to work with. How did I do this
and how can I undo this? I must have clicked the wrong button, somewhere.

At a guess, you've cleared the check box for "Windows in Taskbar" on the
View tab of Tools | Options.

I will never know how I screwed this up. Thanks to you, the problem is

I still maintain that occasionally Word, on its own, changes settings behind
our backs just to keep us on our toes. <g>
