How can you open files with extension xlsx?

I have received a file with .xlsx extension. How can I open the file in Excel
2003

I would try renaming it to .xls. Probably best to make a copy of it and
experiment on that.

Or ask the sender to save a copy in the old xl2003 format and resend that
version.
