how can I use user groups in message rules in outlook?

I am trying to work around the limitations of Outlook Message rules. I am
trying to maintain a positive attitude, but the extreme limitations are very
frustrating. FYI, here's what I'm trying to do, and all the info I can
possibly provide:

Version: Outlook 2007 (12.0.4518.1014) hooking to Exchange
whatever-the-latest-version-is (I am not the exchange admin). on an XP Pro
SP2 workstation.

What I want to do: -Sort incoming e-mails such that all messages from a
large group of people (My entire department, 350+ people) go into a certain
folder.

This does not appear possible, since:

1. Outlook message rules do not account for "Groups"; if you try to assign a
group to a message rule, it simply enumerates every member into the field
you're searching for.

2. Outlook message rules on Exchange Server are limited in size, and can
only be some ridiculously small size, like 2K or something. (I read a KB
article on it). Thus, all the names for all the people in my department
(again, over 350 people) do not fit.

3. OK, so why not use a "Client Only" rule? ...Well, even if I say "This
Machine Only", which sure sounds like "Client Only" to me, it STILL does not
let me apply the rule, again stating that it is too big to fit on the
exchange server.

4. OK, so, attempting to use a rule that states "Apply this rule to all
incoming messages, where the sender contains @purdue.edu". Oops, it simply
does not work. People's NAMES are apparently what it's checking, and John
Purdue has only one descendant on campus, as far as I know, and she's not in
my department.

There apparently is NO workaround for this that I can find. I find it very
surprising that this problem does not have the townspeople mobbing the
Microsoft castle with pitchforks and torches; the alternative is that I am
simply overlooking some simple key.

Someone, please help!

And if anybody who works for Microsoft actually reads this, I made these
suggestions over 2 years ago, and they are *Still* not implemented in Office
/ Exchange / Outlook. I realize your organization is a monolithic juggernaut
where one measly user accounts for less than .0001% of your user base, but I
have years of experience and professional education. (Sorry, no MCSE...
overpriced, overvalued.) Anyway, my suggestions:

1. Remove the memory limit to message rules on Exchange server.
2. Let message rules apply to GROUPS.
3. When checking a message's "Sender Address", actually check the E-MAIL
ADDRESS AND NOT JUST THE NAME!!!!!!

Hey.. Y dont you categorise your contacts. You can bring in the CATEGORY in
MS outlook into play while you setup rules. That will do what it wants you
to..

Your suggestions;
1) That is the case for Exchange 2007
2) Use categories instead
3) It does both but note that internal traffic doesn't use SMTP addresses.
